Purpose of Education

To nurse a person means to support the patient’s healthy living by accepting his or her lifestyle holistically and meeting his or her individual needs. As human life, growth, development and health are closely related to our environment, we consider the science of nursing to consist of four basic and interrelated elements: humans, environment, health and nursing.

Based on this concept, we aim to develop professionals who will contribute to society thought their in-depth understanding of human nature, excellent practical nursing skills, and passion to pursue the specialty of professional nursing.

Educational Goals

We aim to develop professionals who…

● have respect, a sound ethical view and strong insight to human lives, the subjects of nursing,


● understand the basic theories which form the foundation of practical nursing, complemented with fundamental and specialized skills required to creatively adapt to the needs of professional nursing,


● have the open-mindedness, leadership, and effective team skills to work together with other health, medical, and welfare professionals,


● have the academic abilities to apply their professional specialties in leading and supporting roles throughout the nursing industry,


● have the flexibility to constantly adapt to the ever-changing social needs regarding nursing,


● have the basic ability to become educators or scholars who take part in educating and developing nursing professionals, and


● are proactive lifelong learners, who contribute to the advancement of nursing science in accordance with international and domestic social trends.


Career Options

○ Registered nurse (in settings such as medical institutions, welfare institutions, public health institutions, and business establishments)
○ Public health nurse (in setting such as city, town, or community health centers, local health centers, medical institutions, companies, schools, and public health institutions)
○ Midwife (in settings such as medical institutions, maternity clinics, public health centers, city, town, or community health centers, and business establishments)
○ High school teacher (courses such as nursing, integrated studies, and welfare)
○ Educational and research institutions
○ Graduate school

Potential Licenses and Qualifications

○ Qualification to take the National Registered Nurse Qualifying Exam
○ Qualification to take the National Public Health Nurse Qualifying Exam*)**)
○ Qualification to take the National Midwife Qualifying Exam*)
○ High School Teacher’s Certificate, Type 1 (Nursing) *)


*)Students will be qualified to take the National Public Health Nurse Qualifying Exam, National Midwife Qualifying Exam, or High School Teacher’s Certificate, Type 1 (Nursing) when a certain number of units were taken, depending on the selected course (each course has a restricted number of students).
**)The Qualification to take the National Public Health Nurse Qualifying Exam has become an elective for students who enroll in 2012 or later.
