Admissions Policy

1.Summary

1) Basic Policy
 Health science is an academic field which considers a person’s overall existence, from the physical, mental and social viewpoint, seeks human health, and contributes to the improvement of health and welfare. The basic policy of the Hirosaki University Graduate School of Health Sciences (Master’s Course), is to contribute to the improvement of health and welfare of man by returning the achievements of education and research in the health science field to society.
2) Educational goals
①Development of human resources who have a high level of specialized knowledge and skills
 Human resources who possess a high level of specialized knowledge and skills, and who can construct theories and put them in practice, and develop new techniques are trained.
②Development of human resources who possess management practical ability and who can take a leadership position.
 Human resources who can practice team medical care by coordinating with experts from various fields, and exercise leadership from a new viewpoint and strategies are trained.
③ Development of the abilities of health care professionals who play an active role in the region
 An educational system which is easy for health care professionals who are active employees is established with the aim to develop human resources who can contribute to the enhancement and improvement of regional healthcare and welfare.
④Development of educators and researchers
 After completing the Master’s Course, admission to the Doctoral Program is encouraged with the view of training educators and researchers with superior qualities and who can develop new research field themselves.

2.Concept of the student

  • Students who are interested in human health, its maintenance and improvement, and have a strong will to extensively contribute to society.
  • Students who master the basics in the academic healthcare field, and have a strong desire to challenge cutting edge research.
  • Students who possess an eager spirit of inquiry, and desire to study, and who can think and act on their own.
  • Students who can exercise leadership in actual practice and research in each specialized field, and who can play an active role from an international viewpoint.
  • Students who are also interested in related fields, and who can coordinate in cooperation over regions and academic fields.

3.Characteristics which should be cultivated before admission

  • Basic knowledge and skills needed to play an active role as a medical care professional.
  • The ability to organically coordinate with a medical team as demanded from a professional who plays an active role in the healthcare field.
  • Basic knowledge and methodology to solve problems by integrating knowledge regarding the medical technology of various specialized fields.
  • A research viewpoint and basic research method which are essential for the development of various specialized fields.

4.Basic policy of student selection

 To evaluate the comprehensive academic ability, passion for research and eagerness, students are selected according the comprehensive results of an academic test (English), short thesis, and interview. (Documents for submission are the basic interview material.)

【Department of Nursing Science】

1.Summary
 In the Department of Nursing, class curriculum focuses on maintenance of health and enhancement of home care and hospice at each stage of life in consideration of support in living, as well as to address issues which will become the basic concept of education, ethics, and management science. The specialized knowledge and ethics of nursing science is further developed and training human resources who can play a leading role as an educator and researcher in the development of ability, clinical and regional healthcare activities.
2.Concept of the student
  • Persons who can comprehensively and multifacetedly understand specialized knowledge of other fields related to their specialized field, and can educate and carry out research.
  • Persons who can analyze the nature of the problem ethically and scientifically, and solve it at the clinical and regional healthcare activity sites.
  • Persons who can carry out self-management, cooperation, and presentation in various situations.
  • Students who can contribute to the development of the healthcare field, in coordination with experts from other fields.

【Department of Radiation Science】

1.Summary
 The Department of Radiation Science seeks to develop human resources who can play a leading role in the field, while acquiring knowledge and skill in the health care field.
2.Concept of the student
  • Persons who have their own sense of purpose and active intellectual curiosity.
  • Persons who possess logical thinking ability and objective judgment.
  • Persons who can communicate with experts from various fields.

【Department of Bioscience and Laboratory Medicine】

1.Summary
 Cells are the smallest unit in the living body, and as a group, form tissues and organs. However, analysis of their mechanism is possible by follow from the living body level to the cell level, and achievement will lead to the development of diagnosis, treatment, etc. In this field, this bi-directional education and study is set as the central core and aims to develop human resources who can analyze vital function and clinical condition.
2.Concept of the student
  • Persons who show interest not only in their own specific field, but over a wide range such as research areas of other fields.
  • Persons who have a strong spirit of inquiry regarding life mechanisms, the causes of diseases, test methods, diagnosis methods and treatment methods.
  • Persons who are eager to share medical conditions with medical professionals and researchers from other countries as an international person.

【Department of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Science】

1.Summary
 As a foundation for physical therapy and occupational therapy, human resources who can make assessment, verify treatment, and carry out development for the recovery of exercise or mental disability and improve activities of daily living, are trained. Moreover, study has been developed in the range of the effect of factors in a person’s living environmental on health and disabilities, such as the maintenance of the residential environment. Ability to develop new medical techniques and medical devices, acquire high level specialized skills to contribute to healthcare, and exercise leadership on the practical site, are cultivated.
2.Concept of the student
  • Persons who are interested in the specialized field of rehabilitation.
  • Persons who are eager to establish the scientific foundation used in the evaluation and treatment, and prevention of disability, which are handled during rehabilitation.
  • Persons who possess practical ability to work for the improvement of the actual conditions of healthcare, and wish to acquire the ability to play the role of a high level expert who can contribute to regional healthcare.
