Curriculum Policy・Diploma policy (For students enrolled after 2018)

1.Formulation and implementation policy of educational courses (curriculum policy)

 In the School of Health Science, the curriculum policy of liberal arts education and professional education for the development of professionals in medical healthcare, who are rich in humanity and ethics, as well as have a high degree of medical skill and who can contribute to the health and welfare of the citizens, is as follows.
1) Liberal arts education
  • A wide-ranged education and operational ability in a foreign language is carried out, and ability to accurately determine the global or local condition of the healthcare field is cultivated.
  • In addition to recognizing the diversity of an international and local society through practical learning ability which is developed through basic seminars, etc., in order to cultivate the ability to discover and solve issues in the healthcare field.
2) Specialized education
  • In specialized common subjects, core subjects are set in addition to the basic subjects required in all courses. Core subjects aim to develop the healthcare concept and the qualities of a healthcare professional, as well as the understanding of each field from the position of healthcare professional.
  • Specialized basic subjects and specialized subjects are required in order to meet the qualifications for taking national registered exams for healthcare professionals, and are determined to be pyramid shaped by combining specialized subject from the first year, with training and practice developed after lectures.
3) Regarding each course

【Department of Nursing】

  • Knowledge required for nursing professionals is systematically taught, assisting students to clearly develop the ability discern and predict people and society.
  • The ability to utilize specialized knowledge in nursing science, notice changes in the needs of society and respond flexibly, coordinate and cooperate with other types of work, and exercise the ability to adjust and solve problems, is cultivated.
  • Students are helped to gain basic skills which are useful in the education and enlightenment of nursing professionals, establish creativity and habit to seek, and cultivate the ability for continued learning of nursing science in order to develop and improve one’s life.

【Department of Radiological Technology】

  • By systematically teaching specialized knowledge and skills, students are helped to cultivate logical thinking and insight, based on an objective judgment.
  • Specialized knowledge of radiology techniques is applied in the latest medical technology, and academic problem-solving is cultivated by utilizing the high level knowledge.
  • As a radiological technologist, medical techniques which have shown remarkable progress almost daily are taught, and the habit to seek knowledge is gained.

【Department of Medical Technology】

  • In addition to acquiring practical skills required by a clinical laboratory technologist, the ability to accurately use specialized knowledge and judgment to discern various problems in medical exam studies which plays a role in healthcare medicine.
  • Develop the ability to coordinate as a member of a medical team which contributes to local healthcare, and increase ability in problem-solving.
  • As a clinical laboratory technologist, acquire the ability to keep searching and learning about various problems in the healthcare medical field.

【Department of Physical Therapy】

  • By learning specialized knowledge in physical therapy and knowledge in rehabilitation-related fields, students cultivate the ability to determine issues in physical therapy from the viewpoint of healthcare service, as well as cultivating the ability to accurately analyze various problems of patients undergoing physical therapy.
  • Students acquire practical skills to solve problems experienced by patients undergoing physical therapy and their families from various facets, not only by physical therapy but also by coordinating with other professionals.
  • The perception and occupational ethics of physical therapist are cultivated by practice, etc., and try to self-improvement through the life, and cultivate the abilities to contribute for development and education of physical therapy. In addition, methods to solve academic issues in physical therapy in a planned and logical way are also developed by study and practice.

【Department of Occupational Therapy】

  • IN addition to acquiring practical skills required by an occupational therapist, the ability to accurately discern various problems in occupational therapy related to rehabilitation medical care using specialized knowledge and judgment.
  • Students are helped to cultivate abilities which can contribute to local rehabilitation as a member of a medical team, and increase problem-solving ability.
  • Acquire the ability to continue to seek and learn about various problems in the rehabilitation medical care field as an occupational therapist.

2.Policy regarding the graduation certificate and bestowal of a degree (diploma policy)

 The School of Health Science grants a degree (in nursing science) to persons who graduate from the Nursing Course with a major in Radiological Technology, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, or Occupational Therapy and who have acquired the professional knowledge and skill in the healthcare medical field according to the educational course created based on the above described curriculum policy, as well as a deep sense of humanity and ethics, and who can contribute to the health and welfare of the citizens.
 In other words, a degree is acquired by achieving the following conditions.

  • By cultivating the ability to see past trends in the healthcare medical field based on a wide range of knowledge developed through liberal arts and specialized education, and possessing specialized knowledge and skill as a healthcare medical professional.
  • Possessing the ability to solve issues at healthcare sites, by actively utilizing the acquired specialized knowledge and skills.
  • Accurately recognizing healthcare and showing an awareness of one’s contribution to society as a medical professional, and acquiring the ability to continue search and grow throughout one’s entire life.
